Testing?

I've had a plan for a really personal pattern for quite on time and the process to make one and further to turn it to a pattern has been long...  I just checked my bookkeeping and I casted my first Hjördis on the needles pretty much one year ago.  It was finished in December and the original cardigan in Tukuwool fingering looks like this:

I casted on the second version even before finishing the first one, 'cause I wanted to try it in two colours. Not a good idea! So not my thing and required a lot of concentration 'cause I wanted it also to bee seamless and that meant two coloured brioche with sort rows as well as intarsia edges. This version was not the relaxing almost brainless knitting that I was in mood for. So it took quite a while to get it finished and I got it done only 'cause I had a deadline: it had to be done before flying abroad to visit a friend to whom I made it as a present! The cardigan is made in some kind of wool blend (forest green) and a mohair blend (dirty peach) I'm though very pleased with the finished cardigan:

This summer I got a vision of a longer version that I just had to cast on right away! And I'm in love with my bright mohair blend cardigan:

Monday Morning in lace

I made this lace turtle neck pullover over 2.5 years ago and have used it a lot. Now I’ve finally managed to write the pattern for it! And am of course looking for test knitters for the pattern :)

Sizes: XS – S – M – L – XL – XXL to fit bust Circ 70 – 80 – 90 – 100 – 110 – 120 cm (28 – 32 – 36 – 40 – 44 – 48”)
Gauge: 10 x 10 cm (4”) = 28 sts and 40 rows
Yarn weight: fingering

Monday Morning Pullover is a lace pullover worked from top down in one piece without any seams. Effortless, stylish and timeless.

Pattern has a charted, but pretty easy, lace pattern. Includes also an option for wider hips made with lace darts.

Eufrosyyne is worked top down without any seams. The garter stitch collar continues as a frame through the whole hem and with optional fringes.

So this jacket that is named after my ancestor and is inspired by Finnish folklore. The stranded knitted stripe on the hem is a modification of traditional Finnish embroidery called “red embroidery”. (Here is one example of traditional red embroidery.)

This project has been a whole lot of work… I got the idea about a year ago and started to work with the first version of the jacket in the beginning of this year. The first one looked like this:

I wasn’t happy with it at all. The yarn wasn’t smooth enough… and the construction didn’t work in reality as I had imagined in my mind; there’s too much fabric in the front. I didn’t even like the first version of my stranded pattern. So I did some new calculations, modified the stranded pattern and started all over.

This time I also graded the pattern ahead and made the next version for a dear friend. I was really happy with the look on this one:

And of course I wanted my own version of the jacket! I ordered some really nice yarn and started to work with my own piece… only to once again notice that my yarn wasn’t suitable. This time it was way too thin. – The yarn has been used though to something else that I’m going to reveal shortly ;)

So I re-wrote the pattern once more, now for a whole new yarn weight. And this time my Eufrosyyne is spot on!

Huldan takki nurinkurin / Hulda Jacket upside down

Kirjoitin Huldan takin ohjeen uusiksi: nyt neulesuunta on ylhäältä alas, mikä helpottaa sovittelua työn edetessä. Sarjoin myös takin useammalle koolle sekä langan vahvuudelle ja tiheydelle. Remember Hulda Jacket? I re-wrote the pattern to be worked top down. I also graded the pattern for more sizes as well as multiple yarn weights and gauges. Huudellaans uudestaan testineulojia nyt uudistetulle Panda paidalle. Huutelin jo vajaa vuosi sitten, mutta uudistin nyt sitten kuitenkin ohjeen niin että pandan kuva neulotaan intarsiana. Ja siinä samalla pääntien, kädenteiden ja helman reunukset muutin joustinneuleeksi. Ja kokoja tuli myös lisää!

Täältä löytyy alkuperäinen kuva, uudesta versiosta on vielä kuvaussessiot pitämättä. Paidass on siis venepääntie ja noin 2/3 pituiset hihat. Työ neulotaan ylhäältä alas, melkein saumattomasti... intarsia-osuudella neulotaan tasoneuleena ja siihen ommellaan myöhemmin sauma.

Ohje on DK paksuiselle langalla, juoksevuus on noin 200-220m/100g, ja 2,5-3 mm puikoille. Tiheys n. 23 s ja 30 krs:ta = 10 x 10 cm.

Koot: 110 - 120 - 130 - 140 - 150 - 160 cm ja S - M - L - XL. Valmiin neuleen rinnan ympärys 63 - 65 - 66 - 67 - 69 - 79 - 87 - 96 - 105 - 113 cm, jolloin langan kulutus n. 425 - 480 - 540 - 610 - 690 - 780 - 880 - 995 - 1125 - 1275 m + 30 m intarsiakuvioon.

Looking for test knitters for my Panda sweater. The original sweater is here, but I've made some changes to the pattern (and the new sweaters haven't been photographed yet): collar, sleeve cuffs and the hem are now in rib and the sweater is knitted top-down. The picture is knitted in intarsia. The neckline is a boat neck and sleeves are 2/3 length.

The pattern is for DK weight (11 wpi) yarn and for 2,5 and 3 mm needles. Gauge is about 23 s and 30 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Sizes: 110 - 120 - 130 - 140 - 150 - 160 cm and S - M - L - XL. Chest circumference for the finished garment is 63 - 65 - 66 - 67 - 69 - 79 - 87 - 96 - 105 - 113 cm and materials about 425 - 480 - 540 - 610 - 690 - 780 - 880 - 995 - 1125 - 1275 m + 30 m for the intarsia picture.

Vartaloa myötäilevään raitamekkoon saa kätevästi kulutettua nurkissa marinoituneet yksittäiset sukkalangat, joille ei ole vielä keksinyt käyttöä. Mekkoon saa myös loistavasti kulutettua sukkalankojen jämiä.

Mekon pienenä yksityiskohtana on V-pääntien jatkona oleva lyhyt napituslista, jota voi halutessaan korostaa entisestään näyttävillä napeilla.

Mekko neulotaan ylhäältä alas yhtenä kappaleena, ilman saumoja. Ohjeesta löytyy muokkausvaihtoehtoja rinnanmuotoiluille sekä notkoselälle eli työtä voi ja kannattaa matkan varrella sovitella ja muokata omalle sopivaksi.

Ohje on fingering (wpi 16) paksuiselle langalle, juoksevuus noin 400m/100g, ja 2-2,5 mm puikoille. Tiheys n. 24 s ja 40 krs = 10 x 10 cm.

Kokoja löytyy S, M, L, XL ja XXL (valmiin neuleen rinnan ympärys n. 80 – 88 – 96 – 106 – 118 cm), jolloin langan kulutus n. 1550 m (n. 4 sukkalankavyyhtiä), n. 1750 m (n. 4,5 sukkalankavyyhtiä), n. 1980 m (n. 5 sukkalankavyyhtiä), n. 2240 m (vajaa 6 sukkalankavyyhtiä) ja n. 2530 m (n. 6,5 sukkalankavyyhtiä).

Wanted test knitters for a fitted dress!

To the fitted dress you’ll be able to use the single sock yarns that haven’t become anything else yet. Or maybe you’ll use all the leftover yarns that lay around.

As a small detail the V-neckline continues as a placket, which can be accented even more with some really dashing buttons.

The dress is knitted seamless, in one piece, top-down. Pattern includes options for chest, waist and swayback shaping’s, so you can try on the cardigan along the way and adjust it to fit your own body.

The pattern is for fingering yarn (wpi 16 and 400m/100g) and 2-2,5 mm needles. Gauge is about 24 sts and 40 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Sizes: S, M, L, XL and XXL (finished measurements for the chest 80 – 88 – 96 – 106 – 118 cm) and materials about 1550 m (about 4 skeins of sock yarn), 1750 m (about 4,5 skeins), 1980 m (about 5 skeins), 2240 m (just under 6 skeins) and 2530 m (about 6,5 skeins).
